That could be esxi, linux, omnios, bsd, even windows. The default is seconds 5 minutes. This data is maintained even after an uninstall of the software and is required for upgrades. That is at odds with running it on your typical virtualization platform, which is trying to share resources to make effective use of limited resources.

You have to spend a crap-ton on ZFS plus 10Gbe to touch local ssd speeds. Fabric support for cards has been so problematic, and these cards are so old now that it is just not worth your time to try it.

I would suggest either running with the firmware bundled with the driver, or update the driver to account for the changes in the firmware. I should have mentioned I’ve read i think your post here and in a freebsd bug report that virtualising freenas is a bad idea and much pain and loss of data to follow that you shouldn’t freebsd freenas but frankly it should work and this is not production, it is my home setup, so aslong as my drives and draw don’t die I should be able to read my data with anything I can stick a hba in.
We like wildly hopeful, but storage is a pragmatic business.

The newer 2-Gigabit cards, and 4-Gigabitare also supported. The config below is the most basic configuration, which has no authentication and simply serves freebxd block device over FC port isp0. This data is maintained even after an uninstall of the software and is required for upgrades.
